JessiKca Drzewiecki-Scattergood was eleven when she met Mephisto Davis. He was assigned to her reading class' virtual collab circle. At the time, schools were becoming more and more efficient and automated, and the custom-built kids of the emerging Lucien Generation were picking up concepts more and more aptly. Extensive, detailed lesson plans became obsolete rapidly as kids breezed through them. Mars school boards came up with new programs to extend course material and thereby occupy kids in school til age 18(some things never change); virtual collab circles were one of those programs.
At first, JessiKca thought little of Meph, but by the time they were seniors in high school, she wore his class ring on a chain around her neck. She lived in a conspicuously huge house in a private neighborhood in Seventeen Corners, an affluent suburb of Urbanite. JessiKca's parents never really approved of Meph either, but they rarely involved themselves in their daughter's life enough to give much of a crap. Her father was Hajime Scattergood, a brilliant, semi-celebrity hack-malpractice lawyer. Her mother was Ingrid Drzewiecki-Scattergood, a similarly brilliant and well-known medical malpractice lawyer. When, at age 19, JessicKa informed them that she was pregnant with Meph's child, they calmly accepted the news and sent her to the doctor with a genetic-engineering allowance. Meph and JessiKca planned their extravagantly detailed "vanity child" together, made full use of the generous sum provided them, and tricked the fetus out like a wannabe gangsta would a Pontiac. The child's specifications and name were kept a giddy secret until she was born. On that special day, JessiKca's parents were aghast at the creature that showed up in the delivery room. It was a baby, that was certain. But it was covered in what looked like tiny white studs, arranged in rows and patterns on its forehead, arms, back, and belly. Its sparse, matted hair looked to be a pastel purple. And most frighteningly of all, its eyes shone a terrifying bright yellow-green.
Fifteen years later, µ(that's the Greek letter 'Mu' if our character sets get crossed) is sitting on a train. Her eyes glow yellow-green in the dimth. Her bone/titanium studs have matured almost fully to their shiny metallic state. She has long, pale purple hair that flows well past her bottom. She wears a simple, modest black dress. The next stop is Lerxstwood, where her first day of high school awaits. What cleverly cruel nicknames will this school's kids come up with? How many times will she have to explain that she has no last name, that her full name is legally just "µ"? Will there be even one friend for her at Wilkinson High, Lerxstwood? And while we're asking questions, why does µ always feel that she is frighteningly unique in more than just her appearance? What are her genetically instilled attributes that she was never told about? Why does she get so sick so often? Where the heck are her parents? What the heck's going on?
